Kriya Notes – Part1
I decided to get my Sudarshan Kriya (SK) notes out and see if they were same as SkyWalker’s one! I had not looked at them for several years now. So I unwrapped the silk cloth covering. We were told they were sacred and needed to be covered with silk cloth. I have noticed SriSri’s fondness for silk clothing. For someone who is into non-violence and vegetarian, I would have thought cotton materials would be more appealing as it doesn’t cause any harm to any animal.
Anyway, I digressed there, let’s get back to my SK notes. Not only I spotted quite a few differences between my notes and SkyWalker’s one (which I will mention few of them later), but also I saw them in a different light for the first time. It was my first time looking at them since my freedom from SriSri’s web of deception. For the first time I saw them for what they were, my contract of bondage to SriSri, full of mind control stuff and bizarre utterances. Funny how the notes look now, without those filters depicting SriSri as Divine incarnation revealing secret knowledge to us! Funny how we can see things differently when we switch on our critical thinking ability.
Reading the first page, first made me laugh, esp. the first paragraph, don’t review while eating or chewing gum or in bathroom or lying down ,etc. Well, I am not into chewing gums and was not going to spend all that time in the bathroom, so I reviewed them while lying down!! I tell you I had such amazing insights while reviewing them lying down that I wonder what it would be like to review them in the bathroom or while chewing a gum! I don’t recommend reviewing them while eating, as sudden burst of laughter can be a choking hazard!
Talking about not taking sacred knowledge to bathrooms, I now laugh about how many times I had to leave my bag with all its valuable contents with strangers in the international airports, before being able to go to toilet! You see, we were told it was forbidden to take the Kriya tape to bathrooms! I remember when one time I was asked by someone who was rather suspicious of my request, “why not taking your bag with you?” I replied that I had a little bible in it and it goes against my religion to take it to the bathroom!
Going back to SK note, the most important insight I had was that these Kriya notes were not written by SriSri himself. Having read each and every one of his articles, books, interviews, etc during the years, I am now well familiar with his manner of speaking & writing style. He may have dictated some part of these notes, but not all of it. In fact , it seems to me, that during the years these notes have been subjected to editorial reviews of few different people. But I wonder where from the original Kriya notes have been plagiarized in the first place. There must be someone out there reading these notes, knowing where they have come from.
Of course Sri Sri told us Kriya was revealed to him during 10 days of silence/meditation. We were told Maharishi sent him to Rishikesh and asked him to do this 10 day meditation in silence. However, when Kriya was revealed to him and he told Maharishi about it, Maharishi told SriSri that Kriya was just for him and he should not share it with others. So SriSri kept it quiet for a while, but then he felt this needs to be shared with the world. When Maharishi didn’t give him permission he then left TM so he can share Kriya with the world, or so we were told by SriSri! His story depicted Maharishi in very bad light, a jealous guru, preventing sacred knowledge reaching masses, while himself as a courageous hero!
I wonder, when Kriya was revealed to SriSri, was he also told to patent it? Was he told to charge extravagant amounts for sharing it? Was he told to build an empire for himself? Was he told to buy huge number of real estate for himself and his family? Was he told to enslave people in name of spreading the knowledge? etc, etc .
If he left Maharishi so that he could share Kriya with the masses, why didn’t he just put it on a tape and sell the tape to masses for 100 Rupees? If he didn’t listen to his guru and left him because he alleged his guru prevented him from sharing the Kriya with others, shouldn’t SriSri’s teachers now also leave him and not listen to him and go and share the Kriya with masses for free? Most of them teach for free or for 10%-20% of course fees, so it won’t make much difference to them, but it will to SriSri’s coffers! If SriSri left his own guru, why he has so much problem understanding his teachers or followers or devotees/disciples leaving him? Anyway, I am digressing here again. Let’s get back to Kriya notes.
To be continued…..
(Homework for AOL teachers: see if you can spot the differences between your kriya notes & SkyWalker’s one!)

Do they still use tapes or have they started using CDs now? Are people allowed to copy it to their ipods?
Hi Naidu,
As far as I know, they still use tapes, the reason being that in case of some electricity disruption,with a tape you can just restart the tape from where it stopped (using batteries), but you can’t do that with a CD. And again, as far as I know you are not allowed to copy the Kriya tape, full stop.
The SK notes posted in this blog are from 2006 under the revision of Regina Boensel.
Naidu,
Copy of Kriya?
Ask this to any AOL Teacher, her/his reaction will be like if you are asking – Can I kill someone?
Infact, one Basic course teacher warned us indirectly by telling story of a person who copied Kriya secretely, and how he is in such miserable condition due to Guru curse.
(Don’t ask how Guru with Love and Peace can curse you)
Yes, at TTC we were told about few cases of people who had copied the tape & conducted courses of their own & how all participants got sick from the same tape as Guru’s grace was not there!
May be they all got sick because doing SK is bad for your body 🙂
Yes, that would have been the logical explanation. However their point was to brainwash us that the tape is no good without “Guru’s Grace”. Generally everything which would go well would be assigned to Guru’s Grace. If anything went wrong in the courses, was either due to AOL-teacher not being connected to Guru or the student not being ready to receive Guru’s Grace due to bad karma!
So SriSri had everything covered!!
Any business which is delivering a product or service has to have this sort of standardization and control. Many people who become teachers, do so to serve their egos/gain prestige – and it is good and even necessary that the manual be idiot proof – otherwise the product won’t sell.
AOL is the kindergarten of spirituality – most teachers are people of low caliber (in terms of spirituality), and the course is spirituality-lite for beginners. It does have some value, but if people think that the path is leading them to enlightenment, or any kind of deep spiritual enrichment, they are highly mistaken.
Giving credit where it’s due, RS is actually aware of the calibre of his teachers – but is happy to perpetuate their ignorance in order to exploit them. He wants people who are intelligent enough to do his work, but not intelligent enough to question his authority.
Absolutely true
@The Dude-
You say AOL is kindergarten of spirituality. Have you found anything that you would call high school or college of spirituality?
This is in response to the question of “the high school or college of spirituality”.
As a part of the immediate response to this question indicated, in my opinion too, people who follow bhagvad gita or are in a constant touch with its ideas certainly have much greater depth than people in AOL.In fact I found it somewhat strange that gita is not mentioned much in AOL.
To add something of my own as an answer to that question I have been exposed to Sri Aurobindo’s teachings and felt them to be “the high school or college of spirituality” in the truest possible sense of that term; I would venture to say: even higher than the Gita because of its greater completeness.
People seeing this comment could try and see for themselves.
@Newman
A good starting point would be to visit some of the traditional mathas – puri, sringeri, dwarka or any of the holy cities and talk to the swamis there. You will find many of them are very knowledgeable and sincerely devoted. They even have the spiritual aura, that comes from years of sadhna. Gurudev – Swami Brahmanand Saraswati – was one like that – there are many, but they are not famous.
Or if you’s like to read – read the writings of chaitanya, madhvacharya, ramanujacharya or shankaracharya. Spirituality is a vast and deep subject. Your basic course points just scratch the surface.
Personally, I am a vaishnava, and believe in Lord Krishna. I study and live by bhagvad gita. The earnestness, dispassion, and bhakti that i’ve found amongst sadhaks and acharyas my tradition is several orders of magnitude greater than what I found in AOL.
i really wonder why nobody joins yours face book it seems they do not agree with you.
jgd
SkyWalker already replied to this question under “Sick Money” comments! Your care & concern is touching! And I wonder why a “JGD” type of person is visiting this blog, rather than visiting AOL counter-blogs & leaving a comment there! They truly need your support, indeed US AOL president was begging for it!
The DGP of Karnataka, Mr.Ajai Kumar Singh has nailed the lie “attempt to murder Sri Sri” by stating that it was a stray bullet that was fired at a wild dog by the neighbouring farm owner which hit Sri Sri’s disciple.
This draws the curtain on the much trumpeted assissination bid on the fake swami. Sri Sri as his wont, has responded by saying that he had already said, he did not have any enemies and has escaped any embarassment by the DGP’s statement.
The bullet incident has again shown that RS is nowhere close to having special abilities – like he claims – I know your past, present, and future. He knew nothing about incident – who did it and why. He was confused and making random claims and changing his story multiple times to suite the need of the day.
Not to mention that he & his lackeys made wild allegations, made a huge story about it, complete with driver premonition and got maximum mileage out of media. SriSri uses any opportunity to get his picture into media. Publicity is food for his soul. In this instant he really shot himself badly in foot. This incident by itself will tell any of his followers/devotees who still have 10% of their brain functioning to break free from RS/AOL.
Oh! I also remember the not going into the bathroom with the tape business! How hilarious! I felt stupid remembering those scenes! There were many times I was alone in a public place and needed to go to the loo and I struggled looking for solutions. The AoL’s “Jai gurudev” works for everything though! 😉 And if it is all above all due to the “grace of the master”, I’d think a tape or a manual can tolerate the bathroom.
please also publish teacher notes related to pranayama, sri sri yoga, padma sadhana and sahaj.
thanks
I didn’t join the FB group because I didn’t want to give my full name nor hurt my friends in AoL. That’s a silly thing to say though anyway.
The secrecy around the Kriya tapes was one thing I noticed in AoL and thought it was weird.
The shot was probably fired by two disciples disputing about whether this and Klim’s blog are true 😉
AoL will not really be affected by us sharing our hurt and pain. If anything, we’d come across as frustrated drop out’s of AoL. Those close to SSRS, if they would share stories of misappropriation of funds, sexual abuse etc, will create a bad name for the current lot of devotees. Also, from what I gather, SSRS has pissed off the present govt and the cops. That’s a bad place to be. Maharishi had to flee the country bec he rubbed Mrs. Gandhi the wrong way.
@Radha
Just like you most people thought there is nothing you can do to cult/fraud like AOL for long time. Then there was KLIM and Skywalker (and rest of the blogers/posters) decided to tell their story anyway. See what happened – AOL is hurt with bottom line they are fighting with little guys with all their resources to destory these little ones. It is possible to shake even the biggest if you have truth to tell.
Maharishi mahesh had to flee the country because of tax evasion reasons. The last twenty years of his life he was held kind of hostage by the mafia of Nader Ram. Finally maharishi went senile as is evident from his videos.
