Who Gets the Nobel Peace Prize?

October 5, 2010

In a few days, on October 8th, the winner of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced. The whole world will look towards Oslo, as the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize Committee announces this year’s winner.

Since 2004, Ravi Shankar has been lobbying to get the price. And since 2006, regardless of the fact that the candidates for the prize are kept anonymous for 50 years, official AOL publicity has announced him as “Nobel Peace Prize nominee”.

The posts below document what can only be seen as RS’s very active personal effort to win the NPP. Personally, I find it unethical to lobby for yourself, to receive this award. Somehow, I find it very hard to believe that a person like the Dalai Lama, who actually received the prize, has done anything like that.

I am looking forward to the 8th, to see who gets the prize. I am confident that it will be someone worthy. And I trust the NPP Committee to be able to look objectively on each of the nominees, their values and accomplishments, and maybe even Beyond…

It is funny that AOL claims (using friendly media) that RaviRavi is nominated for the Nobel prize for many years since 2004/2005. Fact is Nobel committee never announces the actual people nominated for the prize, that (list of names) is supposed to be sealed for 50 years and only then can be released.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_Prize#Nominations

“The nominees are not publicly named, nor are they told that they are being considered for the prize. All nomination records for a prize are sealed for 50 years from the awarding of the prize.”

Many press/media bought the story of RaviRavi/AOL still printing RaviRavi was nominated….

    —Just few in the media

-May be he was nominated by AOL clan and they have conveniently omitted who nominated RaviRavi. Ha ha.

AOL is no longer trying for the nobel peace prize for His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar. All the monies and lobbying spent towards it has been worthless. Now we are after the Magsasay Award considered Asia’s Nobel Prize. AOL is hoping that the Magsasay award will provide the boost to the declining market share of AOL.

“AOL is no longer trying for the nobel peace prize for His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar. All the monies and lobbying spent towards it has been worthless.”

Don’t call it waste. Remember – all the money collected from course fees goes to charity.

If SSRS gets NPP, more people will come for AOL courses. That means even more money will be available for charity. So, money spent in NPP lobbying should not be viewed as wasteful expenditure. Ultimately, it is all for a good cause. Jai Guru Dev!!!

      @Abhilash Shastry
charity? are you sure? How many charity projects can you name? According to people who were in AOL for many years, all special charity projects have their own funds and people donate separately for them.
More chances are, that so-called charity is first class plain tickets and 5 star hotel room for shankar.

Its not Nobel Peace Prize Nominee anymore…..its now mutated to “3 times Nobel Peace Prize FINALIST”. The popular claim has evolved even further. See below. (And Dear Prosecutor, this needs to be a separate point on your charge sheet). Willfully continuing to mislead the world using media goofs and gaffs.

This below article is currently on the AOL website (http://www.artofliving.org/in-en/indian-spiritual-leader-here-sunday), and it is dated 21 Apr 2010

    ==========================================================
    Newsroom › Press Releases › 2010
    Indian Spiritual Leader Here Sunday
    21st Apr 2010,The Cincinnati Enquirer | Cincinnati

The spiritual leader who was named one of the five most powerful people in India by Forbes in 2009 will visit Cincinnati for the first time on Sunday, bearing the message that meditation can help create a violence-free and stress-free America. His name is Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, which might sound familiar, but he’s unrelated to the famous sitar player (Sri Sri is an Indian honorific). This Ravi Shankar is a 53-year-old three-time Nobel Peace Prize finalist who’s on a nine-city tour of North America sponsored by the Art of Living Foundation, an international not-for-profit educational and humanitarian organization he founded in 1981.
The rest of the article follows…….
    ========================================================

The fact that its there on the AOL website today and has been for sometime means ABC (AOL Bureau for Communication) are officially supporting this release. So perhaps some questions can be answered in light of the high degree of confidentiality, secrecy and non-disclosure terms behind the Nobel Peace Prize nominations.

    So,
    1. What was the nomination procedure ?
    2. Who nominated SSRS and when ?
    3. And even if the nomination truly happened, given the very strong non-disclosure position taken by the Nobel committee, how AOL get to know about the nomination ?.
    4. Imagine, there are people out there (High up in the Govt levels) monitoring this as such news flashes around…..in fact here is what could potentially happen if an AOL devotee (Which could have very well been me of a while ago) is drawn into a chance meeting with a member of the NPP committee

AOLD : Hi there …Jai GuruDev

NPPCM : Hi there….and sorry what was that ?

AOLD : Oh !!! its about the big mind winning over the small mind.

    NPPCM : Huhhhhhh ?

    AOLD : Never mind.

WOW !!!, So, you are on the NPP committee !!! Cool. BTW, you must know this !!! my Guru, he has been your final list 3 times already.

NPPCM : “Oh really’ !!!…And what is his name ?

AOLD :It is HH Dr Sri Sri Ravinshankarji and its not the Sitarist. In fact he is a Satirist.

NPPCM : Oh !!! is that so, I don’t recall this name expressly, however I will look into the records. He is a Doctor ? What is his specialisation. ?

AOLD : Honorary Doctorate in literature. That’s why we all have to take all the things he says laterally…sorry literally…sorry I mean unilaterally. Sorry I am stressed. ( I need to do some Bhastrika…Yikes what am I saying here)

NPPCM : Each year we get 1000s of nominations for the NPP. Among them the topmost requests are from the gurus. In fact what is stand out is dat many of dem request us for the NPP personally. We have tried explaining our system to dem and dat their work will automatically speak for dem. Somehow dey do not get what we are trying to tell dem.
Also, Dear AOLD, you see there are officially some 300 plus Gurus dat I personally know off. In fact there is also an un-official guru rating happening… have you seen dis ? So, me , I look dis up to see if there is anything of relevance. Try http://www3.telus.net/public/sarlo/Ratings.htm thats interesting.

AOLD : Really ? That can’t be,….your are the NPP committee. You cannot rely on Google for such things. Let me tell you, my Guru is the Greatest. He is bringing peace in Iraq, Afghanisthan, Sri Lanka, North East India, Kashmir. In fact he has strong connections with Mr Gandhi. My Guru’s guide met Gandhiji in real life once.

NPPCM : Really, ….dat is truly amazing,….AND he must really have a lot of people working for him to be able to bring peace in all dees countries.

AOLD : Yes in fact. We have 300 million (Actually 30 million that are active, BUT we have touched 300 million, and we have 10,000 teachers).

NPPCM : Teachers ? What do dey teach ?

AOLD : Yes, that’s right. We have teachers. I forgot to mention that. We are a not for Profit Educational and Humanitarian organisation. Our teachers teach Sudarshan Kriya. It’s a cure all for everything. It makes the individual more peaceful and therefore the family and therefore the city and then the country…then the world.

NPPCM : And what is dis Sudarshan kriya thing ? and how does one learn it ?
AOLD : Easy, all you have to do is come for the AOL part-1 course pay US$ 250. Ohhhhh !!!!, I am so sorry, you are from the NPPCM, you can only do our corporate course, the part-1 does not apply to you. and the Corporate course will cost you 1000 Euro per person and a minimum of 20 of you have to attend. In fact do you know, we have been running these sessions out of your Brussels Parliament building for some years now. BTW all the money goes for charity.

    NPPCM : Charity ?
AOLD : Yes, as you know creating lasting peace is an expensive business. We have to take away the arms from the Jihadis. Then we have to train them as to what to say to the media when we bring the media to them. That takes really some doing. It involves a lot of work. Those who drop their weapons then start to teach Sudarshan Kriya to their fellow people. This is the only way to world peace.

NPPCM : Wow. Sounds amazing. Exactly like a Network Marketing program to propagate peace. Why did we not think about dis before ?. Have you all every tried selling the Sudarshan Kriya through Amway ? Dat can make peace happen much more quickly. What do you say ?

AOLD : The problem is that Amway is commercial and we are not for profit. So this would not work.

NPPCM : So, as a policy you don’t work with for profit organisations then ?

AOLD : That is not true, we make all our money (Sorry !!! we get all our donations and sponsorships) from for profit Organisations and from their employees. And Sudarshan Kriya is not for sale. It is not a product. It needs Grace to make it work. And that Grace is available with only with HHSSRS.

NPPCM : “ So the Sudarshan Kriya work needs grace to make it work ? By the way, what is this Sudarshan Kriya …you still have not told me. And how does dis grace work ?
AOLD : Ohhh , it’s a breathing exercise. Its Yogic. Its ancient, yet its new. Its very popular. Its an amazing stress buster.

NPPCM : Cool !!!, can you show me how its done ?

AOLD : I can’t. It’s a secret. You have to do the Corporate course for that (Phew !!! I almost said part 1 again. Maan am I sharp or what ?. Luckily I remembered. It’s the Grace. It is working.). If you like I can have someone call you from my local chapter. Perhaps you can get all of the NPPCM together and we will do a free intro talk for you.

NPPCM : Sure, and give my best regards to your Guru. Thinking about it, the Amway idea was not such a good idea after all. Imagine, if we really had world peace, we (the NPPC) would be out of job. Importantly, you guys would also have no one to teach. What do we all do den ? I think better to do without dis grace for some more time.

I want to ask one question to anyone who can answer it: how much effort over time has gone into campaigning for SSRS to receive the NPP, and couldn’t that same effort have been spent doing REAL seva instead?

Same question about the Silver Jubilee celebrations, and now the 30th Anniversary Celebrations in Berlin. Aren’t people who are volunteering for any of these things actually taking away time and effort that could be better spent on making the world a better place, doing realy charity work?

I may be missing something here of course. If so, please enlighten me.

Exactly. One cannot call themselves a true humanitarian if they spend time doing things that are not real seva. I hope this SSRS doesn’t waste valuable time brushing his teeth either. Five minutes a day X 365 days, over a lifetime = hours and hours, maybe even months, that he could be doing seva! If he brushes his teeth every day it would be further proof that he is a complete sham.

        Yes
This is typical diversionary tactics of AOL web seva robots. The questions here about AOL seva are far more serious and factual. The money laundering and stealing charity money. How is sumeru solutions, inwinex and a host of other bogus companies funded. Who funds the lavish lifesyle of ajay and arvind.

thx skywalker, yup my guru is at it too.
if there ever was a fame whoring guru, mine and yours would indeed get the award.

i’m sure though, that they dont give out noble peace prizes to cult leaders.

as i said earlier mr rawat is on a legitimacy campaign to repackage himself as a humanitarian. nothing wrong with that except he didnt believe in any charity for the past 40 years and then boom – he is one.

all he has done previously is spend our money on : his mansions, gold toilets, rolls royces, watches etc etc.

i.e: he’s spent our money on himself!
not one dime on his followers though!

after 50 odd years prem rawat has not managed to spend our money to build a hall or anything. people think he flies tirelessly around the globe spreading peace, the truth is that he spends all the money on noone but himself.

he does alot of charity for publicity when the world is watching but in private he has done nothing for his own devotees.

Prem awat is not a Spiritual leader or similar staff, he has nothing to do with religions, he has never been nominated.
I m a ateist, and i found interesting the Prem Rawat speach about peace.
There are many site talking about Prem Rawat as there are many sites talking about your leaders, you cannot take one negative opinion and Trust that, maybe better to be infermed directly with personal invastigation. If you listen other people opinion you will never know what is real. That is why things like war happen, because people follow from one side and from the opposit side, other people speculation.
About Prem Rawat i can assure that he has nothing to do with religions and nothing to do with nomination, then you can beleve what ever you want it will be still only a belive

I love Prem Rawat’s message and he is truly a messenger of peace.
He might have done those things in the past or not. I don’t know about that.

What I know now is that I’ve been at few “conferences” and I’ve received a lot, but never been asked for anything.
I offered something myself, not a lot (around 10 euro), just to cover (a very small part of) the expenses for the event organization and the rental of the conference hall.
Some people might offer more and some nothing, completely according to their will and possibilities.

Charity is important, but is not the main point of Prem Rawat’s activity in my opinion.
His message is the main point. And that works great 😉

The major responsibilities of an AOL member are:-

    1. Spend (attend) on many courses a year ($$$)
    2. Market (convince) the course to more people ($$$)
    3. Donate and collect donation ($$$)
    4. Spend their money and time on Service Projects ($$$)

The Major achievements of AOL (Guru Ji) are:-

    1. Collecting all fees and donations ($$$)
    2. Spending on Properties, Airfares and Hotels ($$$)
    3. Transferring remaining monies to bank accounts and relatives ($$$)
    4. Claiming member’s funded service projects as the end use of funds

I’d written to the Nobel media team about disclosure of the Nobel peace prize nominee shortlist. Here’s their answer:

According to the Statutes of the Nobel Foundation, information about
the nominations is not to be disclosed, publicly or privately, for a
period of fifty years. The restriction not only concerns the nominees
and nominators, but also investigations and opinions in the awarding of
a prize. Nomination information older than fifty years is public. At
this web site the Nomination Databases for the Nobel Prize in
Physiology or Medicine, 1901-1951 and for the Nobel Peace Prize, 1901-
1955 are now available. Nomination Databases for the other prize
    categories will follow.
    Yours sincerely,

Nobel panel will not disclose the nominees. But you are missing the point as Ravi Ravi can intuitively peep into the minds of the decision makers and know it. He has communicated this to his holy flock so that they need not wait for 50 years by which time most of them will be dead.

BTW, Mataji Nirmala Devi was nominated for the nobel peace prize seven times. How do we know. She and her followers claimed so. But Mataji could not get it because of opposition from the dark forces of ignorace in this world. The only way to beat these dark forces according to Mataji is to meditate on the saharara chakra and surrender to her. In Ravi Ravi’s case it will be practice sudarshan kriya and bring more money into AOL. Thats the way of world peace. Om Shanti
